Chaweng Beach – Koh Samui’s Most Popular Destination

Chaweng Beach a beautiful beach located in the island of Koh Samui. It is also the island’s most popular and famous beach because of its white powdery sand, sparkling clear and clean waters, coral reef teeming with colourful marine life, restaurants that serve world class cuisines and amazing sunrise and sunset.

This beautiful island in the Gulf of Thailand has to be one of the most idyllic and it is definitely one of the tropical beaches that you should not miss visiting in Asia. Due to its popularity among foreign tourists, it’s not hard to find restaurants and bars in this area.

If you love relaxing and just lazily lounging on the beach, you could also opt for a massage while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of Chaweng beach. For the active and outdoor loving visitors, you could indulge yourself in a variety fo water sports. You can rent a sailing boat or jet-ski, have fun on the banana boat, and discover the underwater world while snorkelling or diving.

Aside from all that water sports activities there are plenty of other options as well. You could visit Samui Monkey Theatre shows for some funny monkey shows and tricks. You could also go to Crazy Golf for a fun nine-hole course. For those who love boxing, you could also visit the Chaweng Thai Boxing Stadium which is the biggest Thai Boxing Stadium in Koh Samui and fights featuring Thai and International fighters are held three times a week. For those who loves some adrenalin rush and are not afraid of heights, you could bungy jump with Samui Bungy.

How to Get There

You could take a flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui or take a bus from Bangkok down to Surat Thani and then take a connecting ferry. Chaweng is a just few minutes ride from the airport. A taxi booked at the airport transport desk will cost you 400 Baht. A shared van will cost 120 Baht per person (shared by 5 people). In case you decide not to use the airport transport desk, negotiate the fare in advance with the taxi driver. It should cost from 200-400 Baht. You could also arrange a pickup service with your hotel or hostel. Prices vary but it usually costs 300 – 400 Baht.
